More on Me

Certain people around me believe that this blog is ego driven.  Although possibly a part of my motivation, I think it is a lot more than that.

One of my goals in the last 10 years is to learn to sit back and celebrate the beauty and positive things in life.  It is too easy for me to be cynical and negative - no-one needs that, mostly myself.  I can read the news or listen to others and find all the things that are depressing.  I agree that the concept is trite and hackneyed to say the least, but writing and developing this blog allows me to sit back and focus on all the really amazing things that life presents.

There are some other reasons.  For one, I've always wanted to try some writing.  This is an avenue to do that, even if it is only me that ever reads it!  Also, I enjoy learning about technology.  A blog is simple, but has great potential for tinkering!   And, I like to take pictures but I just add them to "Elements Organizer" and rarely look at them.  The blog pushes me to take and evaluate and publish some of them.

In general, I'm a late 50's male retired educator who is interested in a variety of topics.  In fact, a friend many years ago described me as, "Jack of all trades, master of none."  At the time, I was a little irritated by that description, but later I realized it was accurate.  I like to travel, particularly using my own or natural power: hiking, bicycling, sailing.  I also enjoy building or reconstructing things, in particular rebuilding old cars (specifically a 1967 VW bug, a 1967 Ford Mustang (6 cylinder), and currently a 1970 Honda N600); building small boats (a number of them that I may get time to post about later); building and remodeling houses (5 at last count); reading; and just plain learning new things.

I'm also lucky enough to be happily married, have one daughter that is great fun to follow, and have an exceptional extended family of all sorts.

I hope you enjoy the blog.
